The moment we get up in the morning there is a mental to-do list that is going on. The hours keep passing by and we keep crossing off the check-list. Sometimes my mind is so overloaded and cluttered with things to do that I don’t even know from where to start and where to end.
Having a baby and trying to work from home is not easy. As much as I love being a mother it still takes a toll on one’s health and mind. Being creative is another ball game. But life goes on and we have to do what we have to do. If we don’t have to work or take care of loved ones, life would be pretty boring. I can’t imagine a day when I don’t have anything to do.
It would be great to know how to polish our time management skills and declutter the mind. Reading books have helped me a lot in finding ways to take out some time for myself and manage to get things done. I wonder what we would have done if there were no libraries or books. Imagine!
Now let’s jot down the things that can help us all:
- Take one day at a time, my husband would always say. No matter how many things we have to get done, we just have 24 hours right. Whatever it is that you have to do, break it down into mini tasks. Get them done one by one. If writing it down helps in any way, then do it.
- Get it done quickly. Sometimes I am in la-la land while doing laundry or cooking or doing anything else. I have noticed if I focus on what I am doing, I am able to get the task done in half the time. Staying focus is the key, my friend.
- Declutter your physical surroundings. When my room is a mess especially the bed. It seems like everything is messed up. Make a habit of cleaning up your bed the moment you get up. In the living room, the couch is a culprit. The pillows should be fluffed or organized properly. And that upholstered chair in your room with all the clothes- Please sort it out.
- Get plenty of sleep. Well, at least enough for you to function properly. I am ready to bite if I don’t have enough sleep. Ask my husband Lol. We think that if we sleep less and get everything else done, it won’t matter. Research shows that sleep deprivation can actually cause memory loss, depression, anxiety and impairs judgement.
- Take out some time for yourself. At least do something. Read a book, listen to some music, paint, work out or write. Get connected with your creative side. It’s a feeling of accomplishment that will keep us going on. Even if I get 15 minutes and get to read few pages of a book. I feel happy. Self- care is essential, a must do.Our mind is cluttered when we are thinking too much, over stressing and worrying about every little thing. If you live with family. Trust them with chores. Always ask for help. Learn to delegate. If you live alone, make a list of things and get organized. Every day is a new day and it won’t be the same as before. Slowly and steadily improvement happens.Give yourself a break!
